Corrected 'Henry David' to 'David Henry' in the heading. [I assume
'Hendry' in the death notice is a typo]

Anastasia (Zia) Mikhailovna was Countess de Torby in her own righ,t
since her mother Sophie Nikolaievna von Merenberg married the Grand
Duke morganatically. In 1917 she discontinued using her comital title
as she was accorded the style and precedence of the daughter of an
earl by Royal Warrant of George V.

Is anyone aware when, and for what reason, was Sir Henry knighted?

I assume it was because he was Lord Lieutenant (rtd 1995) of the
Tayside Region of Scotland (Perth & Kinross).

He was also a Captain in The Royal Company of Archers.

He is one of Her Majesty's closest friends - Lady Butter is regarded
as 'family'
by Prince Philip - hence the KCVO
