Capt John Beeton Seyfried, 84, father of 19th Baron Herbert

Capt John Seyfried, late the Royal Horse Guards father of the 19th
Baron Herbert (cr 1461), died 28 March, 2008, at the age of 84. He was
born circa 1923, and married (i) 1946 (div 1956) Lady Cathleen Blanche
Lily Eliot (b 1921) a daughter of the 6th Earl of St Germans by his
wife the former Lady Blanche Linie Somerset, daughter of the 9th Duke
of Beaufort. From his 1st marriage he had issue, David, b 1952 and
Sarah b 1949. He was also the father of Emma and Edward from a further
union. On the demise of the 10th Duke of Beaufort in Feb 1984 the
Baronies of Botetourt (E 1305) and Herbert (E 1461) fell into abeyance
between the descendants of his late sister, Lady Blanche Somerset, &
on 10 Jan 2002 the Barony of Herbert was called out of abeyance in
favour of David John Seyfried, great nephew of Henry Hugh FitzRoy
[Somerset], 10th Duke of Beaufort, 18th Baron Herbert, etc., and
coheir representing a moiety (i.e. one-half) to the Baronies of
Herbert and Botetourt.


Capt Seyfried's funeral is at St. Botolph's Church, Farnborough, near
Banbury on 11th April 2008.
