From the Telegraph and Times of 16 March 2021: PORTAL Simon George Melville, died peacefully on 10th March 2021 aged 93. Beloved father, much loved cousin, godfather and friend. Funeral private. No flowers please.
He was s of Maj Melville Edward Bertram PORTAL 1900-71 gs of Sir Wyndham Spencer PORTAL 1st Bt 1822-1905 and Hon Cicely Winifred GOSCHEN 1899-1980 d of 2nd Viscount GOSCHEN 1866-1952 and Lady Margaret Evelyn GATHORN-HARDY 1858-1943 d of 1st Earl of CRANBROOK 1814-1906. He m 1962 as her 1st h Gillian d of Maj James Cyril Aubrey George DANCE MP (1907-71) and as her 2nd h (Violet) Ann[i]e Ruth CBE 1904-85 (prev Mrs Lancelot Graham) d of Lt-Col Arthur Mills Elloughton Henry Travis WALKER 1880-1940 by his 1903 m reg Q4 Calcutta to Ruth Gwynne HARRISON 1884-1978, and had a son, Robert Melville b 1967, unm, who occupies the 8th & final place in the line of succ to the btcy.
