Times Obit EXTRACT:
Timothy John Leigh Bell was born in 1941 and brought up in London, the son of Greta (née Findlay), who was from Australia. His Irish-born father, Arthur Bell, a Crosse & Blackwell sales rep, left when Tim was four and moved to South Africa, where he became a radio broadcaster known as “Uncle Paddy”. A few years later [1952 reg Q3 London] Greta married Peter Pettit, a solicitor who became the Conservative mayor of St Marylebone. As a child, Bell dreamt of being the kind of person who could walk into restaurants and be recognised instantly.
...At the age of 23 Bell had embarked on a five-year marriage to a lady called Sue, whom he omitted from Who’s Who and mentioned only briefly in his memoir, reporting that she later died from cancer. For many years he lived with Virginia Hornbrook, whom he had met when she was working at Capital Radio. After cajoling from Thatcher they were married in 1988 and had a daughter, Daisy, who also works in PR, and a son, Harry. The marriage was dissolved in 2016 and the next year, on his 76th birthday, he married Jacqueline (Jacky) Phillips; he described her as a “Felicity Kendal lookalike”.
Lord Bell, advertising executive, was born on October 18, 1941. He died on August [25], 2019, aged 77
