Who are the peers who succeeded before the accession of the Queen on Feb 6, 1952? Is there a list of peers by their date of succession available online?
I could think of only the following peers.

1. Baron Monk Bretton (1933)
2. Baron Carrington      (1938)
3. Earl of Suffolk           (1941)
4. Duke of Kent             (1942)
5. Earl of Chichester     (1944)
6. Duke of Edinburgh    (1947)
7. Baron Denham         (1948)
8. Viscount Ullswater     (1949)

Thank you very much for the comprehensive list. It would be interesting to watch if the Queen outlives all of them.

Prince Charles sort of inheretited his dukedoms and other titles at the same moment his mother became Queen, of course. Trying to think back... has this happened before?

Looking at the ages of the peers in 2018:

Monk Bretton 94
Carrington 99
Gormanston 79
Suffolk 83
Sudeley 79
Kent 83
Dickinson 92
Chichester 74
Davies 78
O'Neill 85
Edinburgh 97
Denham 91
Ullswater 76
Chetwode 81
 Gisborough 91
Gough 77

It will be interesting to see whether or not any of them survives to see Charles crowned King.

As an aside, did  the Earl of Chichester succeed to his title as the result of World War II and if so, is he the last such peer?

Thanks.

Brooke

The Earl of Suffolk succeeded due to WWII - his father was in bomb disposal.
The Viscount Ullswater succeeded early due to WWII. His father had died in the same plane crash as Prince George, Duke of Kent, thus meaning he was his g-grandfathers heir, when ordinarily he might have succeeded much later if his father had lived.

Note that the peers 2-8 succeeded because their father was killed on wartime service, for the most part in action.

I recall reading that there was at least one Peer whose father died in action in WW2 while the former was in utero, making him - like the Christmas Carol - Lord at thy birth. Does anyone know who this was & was there more than one such case?

The Earl of Chichester was born as an earl on 14 April 1944 as his father had died in a road accident on 21 February while on active service.

The others listed were born in the lifetime of their fathers
