From the Telegraph of 4 December 2015: DOYNE-DITMAS  Harold (Hal) Granville Terence Payne CB died on 14 November 2015 aged 85. Dearly loved husband, father and grandfather. He will be hugely missed. A memorial service will take place in Brighton in the Spring. Donations, if wished, to The Martlets Hospice, Hove.

He was a scion of the Irish gentry family DITMAS formerly of Countess Weir. He m 1953 (reg Q2 Northamptonshire) Patricia J DAVIS and had two sons: Nicholas M V (b 1961 reg Q2 London) and Paul E M (b 1963 reg Q4 London)

Was he son or grandson of Maj Harold Edward Churton Doyne-Ditmas?

Before making my original post I looked at Hal's birth details in 1930 where the mother's name is given as PAYNE, but I could find no marriage entry for D-D & Payne between 1910 and 1930, so haven't yet established who his father is.

Thank you. So, he was a son of Maj Harold Doyne-Ditmas
Major Harold Edward Churton Ditmas married Sybil Harriet Monoux, second daughter of (Sir) Philip Monoux Payne, on 5 December 1906
