Thank you Carter for starting this thread. And to Teri and Rey for adding such rich comments. This is exactly what we had hoped would happen in the Peer Learning Network Google Group.
I would add that peer learning is accelerated when guided by a set of mindsets or guiding principles.
An important mindset comes from Carter’s definition of peers. Peer learners are inclusive; any group can become peers when there are clear expectations and norms of behavior.
Peer learners are open to using various facilitation methods. Methods are driven by the purpose (i.e. application) of the learning circle.
Peer learners are also open to helping peers in many ways in addition to classic coaching techniques. Techniques might include story telling; and offering advice when invited.
I am curious, what other mindsets and guiding principles are important to consider as we form peer learning circles?
