Peer Advocate
Job description
The Peer Advocate is responsible for representing SEFBHN as a community Liaison and advocating for consumers and families served within the SEFBHN system of care.
Required Education/Experience
- Experience in the delivery of peer support services and/or recovery coaching
- Peer Specialist Certification or In Process of Obtaining Required Hours for Certification
- Experience leading and participating in consumer and family advocacy groups and consumer and family initiatives
- Understanding of group management techniques and group dynamics
- In-depth understanding of recovery system of care principles and values
- Ability to effectively communicate with consumers, families, and providers in a variety of settings
- Solid presentation and training skills
- Able to manage multiple projects in a constantly changing environment
- Able to plan and executive innovative strategies to accomplish goals
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to the provision of mental health and substance services
- Knowledge of State of Florida Peer Specialist curriculum and requirements
- Experience in the delivery of peer support and recovery support using evidence based and/or promising practices
