Job description
The Peer Advocate is responsible for representing SEFBHN as a community Liaison and advocating for consumers and families served within the SEFBHN system of care.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
  • Experience in the delivery of peer support services and/or recovery coaching
  • Peer Specialist Certification or In Process of Obtaining Required Hours for Certification
Position Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience leading and participating in consumer and family advocacy groups and consumer and family initiatives
  • Understanding of group management techniques and group dynamics
  • In-depth understanding of recovery system of care principles and values
  • Ability to effectively communicate with consumers, families, and providers in a variety of settings
  • Solid presentation and training skills
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a constantly changing environment
  • Able to plan and executive innovative strategies to accomplish goals
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to the provision of mental health and substance services
  • Knowledge of State of Florida Peer Specialist curriculum and requirements
  • Experience in the delivery of peer support and recovery support using evidence based and/or promising practices
