We are seeking a dynamic Certified Recovery Peer Specialist to join our team in Sarasota Florida.  

The position will work in our new P.A.L. (Peer Assisted Liaison) program.  The Certified Recovery Peer Specialist will provide highly individualized services in the community to promote recovery, empowerment, self-determination and decision making.  The Peer Specialist will assist the consumers in navigating the mental health system by pursuing community activities, valued roles and relationships that will support recovery after discharge.  

Position Responsibilities:

• Connect with discharged clients.

• Make connections to encourage participation in aftercare appointments

• Focusing on consumers in risk of readmission to a psychiatric hospital.

• Advocate for consumers to access services in the system of care.

• Assists the consumer to access resources in the community.

Position Requirements

This part time position requires a high school diploma or GED, preferably an Associate degree or a Bachelor’s degree in one of the mental health professions.  This must be a person who is or has been a recipient of mental health services due to having a severe and persistent mental illness and has been out of the any inpatient treatment for mental health issues for one year, and in recovery.  Must be eligible to become certified by the Florida Certification Board as a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist-Adult  within 6 months of hire.  Must have a clean driving record.   Must be able to pass a Level II background screening as required by Florida Statute.
