JOB SUMMARY:
The Peer Support Practice Lead is responsible for overseeing and guiding the role, knowledge, practice, and activities of peer supports specialists in Magellan Complete Care. In collaboration with the Peers’ direct supervisors. The Coordinator acts as a role model for health behaviors and lifestyles across the membership and among clinical professionals. Facilitates training for peers and provides expertise for individual and group activities. Collaborates with local and national teams in program development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Collaborates in recruitment, training, and integration of Peer Support Specialists for MCC care coordination teams.
· Monitors progress, activities, successes and challenges of the Peers, providing guidance and support as needed.
· Builds the community of Peers through regular, ongoing communication and professional development.
· Collaborates in program development by providing expertise to the management team regarding successes and barriers in the Peer Support program.
· Liaison with community and consumer organizations and providers regarding the role of peer specialists and recovery-oriented programs. Serves as liaison with advocacy organizations regarding peer support training and implementation initiatives as requested by manager.
· Serves as a resource for recovery principles, strategies and tools in the context of integrated behavioral/physical health. Attends and participate in care coordination meetings as requested.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Candidate must be able to work effectively and prioritize in a fast-paced environment in order to meet the demands of the organization. Candidate must role model competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills.
· Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: BA/BS
Experience: 3-5 years
Industry: Behavioral health care environment including community based support and social services
Equivalent combination of experience and education.
Job Specific:
· Knowledge of recovery principles and tools, such as wellness recovery action plans
· Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
· Ability to represent strengths and needs of consumers in clinical settings
· Ability to summarize and document findings in care coordination plans.
· Whole Health training, preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, etc.: Certificate of peer support training from a Magellan-recognized organization
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Experience: Program and staff development experience
· 3 years of post-certification experience as a mental health Peer Support Specialist
· Positive attitude that communicates hope and a recovery orientation
· Ability to hear anecdotal information and reframe in the context of facts and data, without losing empathy
· Able to prepare and make presentations and facilitate discussions
· Have a solid understanding of the recovery process and how to use their own recovery story to help others
