Dear Pedal Heads,

Happy holidays to you. Did you have a nice Thanksgiving? How's the Christmas shopping going? I know it is a busy time of year but I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how much I appreciate all of you. I also want you to know that just because I am not leading the Pedal Heads for the MS Ride, it doesn't mean the Pedal Heads are no more. We are simply in transition.

I've been getting all my ducks in a row to send out this e-mail. There is a lot of information here so you may want to save it. Seeing as how today is "Giving Tuesday", I thought it would be a great time to reach out to you. So... here is your information for 2015 in chronological order.

Cycle Camp-Registration opens Dec. 15th. Mark your calendar because the class sells out! There has been a change to the format as Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center went to an 8 week session. We will be having 2 sessions for a total of 16 weeks! This will get you all the way through winter. Isn't that exciting? The first session will focus on base building and fundamental cycling skills. The second session will focus on raising your anaerobic threshold through interval training and how to increase your cycling speed through strength training. There is no link as registration isn't open so I am attaching a flyer.

Fight for Air-This is such a nice weekend ride and I really hope you consider doing it. The ride takes place June 12 to the 14th. I have registered under the Spokes team to guarantee only having to raise the $500.00 minimum. (Minimums are dependent on how many registered to a team.) There is a discount for registration if you use the code word "SPOKES" (case sensitive). Raising the minimum entitles you to meals for all 3 days, lodging at the Abby Resort in Lake Geneva for 2 nights and some of the most splendid riding you can imagine! As many of you know, I lost my big brother in August. He struggled with COPD for years and finally lost his battle. I have a personal connection to this cause and want to put my efforts towards helping the American Lung Association continue the fight against the tobacco industry and other unethical corporations who are polluting our air. If you are unable to join me for the ride, would you consider a donation to my fundraising? The link above will take you to my personal page where you can see a picture of my brother and his bicycle before he became ill.

MS Ride-I know many of you have a personal connection to the MS Society and so we (Bill Chalberg and I) asked Scott Burnstein, Captain of the Psyclomaniacs, if the Pedal Heads can merge with his team. He has graciously agreed and is doing a fantastic job of getting the word out. No more divided Downers Grove. We will be one team and a fundraising machine! Now is a good time to register and start raising money for this wonderful cause! Click on the link (MS Ride in blue) and it will take you to the Psyclomaniacs page.

On a personal note, it was a grueling decision to step down from leading the team for the MS Ride. I enjoyed every minute of being your captain. My professional life has taken a new direction and I am gearing up for the 2015 triathlon season as a certified USAT Triathlon Coach. I penned an article for Experience Triathlon that has some very good off season strength training advice; 28 Weeks to Turn Back Time. If you find yourself registered for a triathlon this season and want to be coached, please consider hiring me.

Please keep the posts coming on our Facebook Page. It's a fun way to stay connected! Have a very merry Christmas and I look forward to the day that I "C'ya!"

From the Heart,

Vicky
