About 1 year ago I asked for advice on trying wider tires on my old Trek Madonne. I've since been running 700x28 gatorskins and been pretty happy with it. One issue has come up though. Twice now in the last year tires have failed with a tear in the sidewall near the bead. Usually these tires are pretty indestructible. So I'm wondering, bad luck, or maybe because I'm putting wider tires on rims not designed for them?
