Holiday Lights Ride in Gaithersburg Tues 11/25 6pm

On behalf of the Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts (MORE), we would like to invite folks to the inaugural MORE Holiday Lights Ride on Tuesday, 11/25 at 6pm. This is a family bike event, riding through the Winter Lights at Seneca Creek State Park. There is a sign-up and a modest registration fee, but we wanted to make it as affordable as possible for families. This is a fundraiser for the sMORE's family ride program, so your registration fees are for a good cause!

$5 per child (under 18)

$10 per adult MORE member

$20 per family with a MORE family membership (two adults plus children)

$20 per adult non-member

(plus BikeReg fees)

Everyone is encouraged to adorn your bikes with lights and decorations. You can even dress up in festive or silly costumes!

There will be prizes for the best decorated bike and best costume. The meetup location is the Peony field parking at Clopper Lake.

I live close this park and have cycled around the roads there hundreds of times. There is only once way in and out of this park which prevents cars using it as a shortcut.  There was also a regular Thursday evening ride with a group I rode with until the leader of those rides passed away.  That being said, the ride only went before sunset.  I still ride there, but their maintenance of the road cannot keep with the weather and wear and tear.  Years ago, they added speed humps and they also have not keep up with the maintenance on those.  No matter how well they will attempt to make visibility at night work, I would worry about potholes and those speed humps in low light
