After a quarter century of running (existence),
for some reason (or curious lack of) there is this
Park Police person --viz., Valerie Hall-- scaring off
would-be parkers from the traditional prime parking
lot at the tennis courts.  It's reserved for "tennis
patrons only," insists the "doing-my-job" officer.  Some
big fellow is angrily decrying her position as bunk
(which it is, really).  Several unattended vehicles
are there; some others have rolled away.  I ask
the officer how many tennis patrons there are
-- a quick glance covers the several EMPTY courts.
Well, not only none, but there CAN'T BE ANY:  the
courts are LOCKED (also damp) !!  This doesn't
sway the idiot officer; she knows what the sign says.
With continued resistance, one, then another officer
arrive.  Meanwhile, I think that the big guy has phoned
Eleanor Holmes Norton!?  SOMEone is on his cell phone,
which gets handed to the first bonus cop to arrive.
.:.   incredibull!!

I walked back for the courts photos.  Haven't yet sent
them anywhere; didn't photograph the cop, though wish
I had.  Then I re-parked, at the point (which has bus
slots no doubt potentially getting the same dutiful
police protection even though, possibly, with the point
bereft of its one-time star attraction --The Awakening
sculpture-- buses no longer visit & park there:  signs
are there to be obeyed/enforced (sometimes!?).

- empty courts
- solid lock

- a couple racer dudes (is that Josh Frick?  Chris Hall
is on the right, in black (one of my mid-weekers))

- more racer types (Aaron Richardson in white-left;
his teammate I think the prime parking protester)

- more familiar folks:  Ed Cook (yes?), Craig Mayhew,
Chris Ross, & V-for-Rudi.  Isn't this a group who'd look
good in bike burkas?  But it was a balmy 40^F or so.

- and here, one of the inevitable obstacles to fast riding,
who arrived a bit after the parking hassle, and decided
cop-be-damned.  (I went back to look for ANY ticket,
as, again, many vehicles were present w/o owners ... :
I saw no ticket.  And cops got scarce.)

- Tom Roberson leads out team Whole Wheel Velo
(many of my mid-weekers)

- "Stylin' Tom" !

- SUN, at the point; but, contrary the camera's setting,
not "tungsten" light -- rather bluish effect, oh well.

- After taking leave of the circle, I toured some of the
local attractions out to the White House trees, and came
back to find smiley, who induced and extra lap out of me.

- And then even the spectators started thinning out.

Reminds me the GSA-contract security guards in my building.  It’s Wednesday, so we must be enforcing the rules for that day.
