Since the winter, I have been leading a series fast CC rides in Maryland. They've been pretty popular. I have been getting 10 or so people showing up, including a number of return customers, and we ride as a group @ 13 mph. (We don't ride in a pace line, but we stay together.) Now that people are in shape, rides are generally 50-55 miles, usually on moderately hilly to hilly terrain.  We have started in various places like Urbana, Laytonsville, Thurmont and of course Rileys. Last weekend we went to the Western Shore of the Chesapeake. All of us are beholden to the agreed upon average pace of 13 mph. The only people we lose are the wiseguys (and gals) who ride ahead and then miss a turn.

There hasn't been anything like this offered by the club in a long time. Sure -- there are some rides that call themselves CC/B. But if a true CC rider joined, they would be dropped.

CC ride in Virginia have virtually disappeared, but it wasn't always like that. Back in the day, the club offered multiple CC rides on both days of the weekend. We would start in places like Leesburg, Warrenton, Vint Hill, Marshall and even Front Royal.

I would be willing to offer these kind of rides in Virginia (where I live), if I thought there was interest.

If you would like to see the kinds of rides I'm talking about in Virginia (again 50-55 mph rides at 13 mph) please contact me off line. Rita Z (rzei...@gmail.com)

FYI - I have tried to attach a  photo from our last ride. As you can see, most of us don't look like racers. We aren't. (I"m third from the left.)
