D.C. Commute Question

Hi all,

Is anyone aware if there is a good bike lane exiting the Metropolitan Branch Trail roughly around K or L Street and heading west?  It doesn’t have to be exactly either of those but I’d like to end up on the 9th street cycle track or thereabouts. My destination is roughly 9th and H, ie Gallery Place.  Im trying to avoid the crappy connection from Union station to the Pennsylvania Avenue cycle track.  FWIW, I am stuck behind the closed section of the red line for the duration and am trying to come up with new route options. I looked at a bike map, but that is not always reliable. 

This would be a big variation of my usual commute through rock creek.

K Street has a bike lane that runs east to west and is mostly on protected infrastructure. Exit the MBT at M Street (the little switchback ramp), left on M, left on 1st Street, right on K.
