This page lists the testing windows for all state assessments for the 2024-25 school year. Families and school staff should check their district's calendars or contact their district's central office for the specific testing schedules/dates for their school buildings.
In spring 2024, students in grades 5, 8, and 11 are expected to take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS), and students in grades 3-8 and 10 are expected to take the Smarter Balanced ELA and math assessments. The Washington Access to Instruction & Measurement (WA-AIM) ELA, Math, and Science are the state alternate assessments for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities.
The spring 2025 Smarter Balanced math and ELA tests will include both Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) and Performance Task (PT) components. The assessments for both subject areas will be the same length as in Spring 2024, with a shortened CAT and a full-length PT. The specific test blueprints that will be used are posted to the Smarter Balanced Test Development & Design webpage and are referred to as the "adjusted" blueprints.
The WCAS is the same test design and length as in spring 2024 and will provide Reporting Area information, overall scale scores, and performance levels. The test blueprints are posted online on the WCAS Educator Resources webpage in the Test Design & Item Specifications section.
The WA-AIM is the state alternate assessment based on alternate academic achievement standards designed for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Students found eligible for state alternate assessments per their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) participate in the WA-AIM in lieu of Smarter Balanced ELA and Math, and WCAS. The WA-AIM is administered in the same grade levels and content areas as Smarter Balanced ELA and Math, and WCAS. More information on the WA-AIM can be found on the Assessment for Students with Cognitive Disabilities (WA-AIM) webpage.
* Paper testing is available only to support large print, braille, and standard print forms (in English for ELA tests and English or Spanish for math tests) for students whose IEP or 504 plan states paper.
Statewide Assessment Schedules are established according to Florida Statute 1008.22 for FSA and NGSSS assessments. These schedules also contain testing dates and windows for other statewide assessments, such as FSAA, ACCESS for ELLs 2.0, and NAEP.
Section 1008.22(7)(b), F.S., requires the Department to publish uniform calendars by January 1 of each year, and the calendars published must include statewide assessment schedule information for the next two years. Each school district is then required to populate the calendar for the following year with district assessment information. Rule 6A-1.094224, F.A.C. was approved by the State Board of Education on June 22, 2016, and established the guidelines and template to be used for this requirement. The approved rule language and template may be accessed at =6A-1.094224. The calendars below have been populated with state assessment information and are available to allow districts to enter their district assessment information and publish the Uniform Assessment Calendar on their website by October 1 each year, as required by statute.
If you are setting up a new school year, when you come to this page and select Screening Windows, you will see a reminder that the district screening window defaults have already been set.
Each default district screening window has a default school screening window "inside" it, with the same start and end dates. Although the default windows can be edited like any other, there are some restrictions:
District screening windows (including the defaults) are listed at the top of the page; school screening windows (not including the defaults) are listed at the bottom. For each, the name of the window, the date range it covers, and the number of schools using that window are given.
By default, this page shows screening windows for the current school year. To view and edit screening windows from prior school years, select View History in the upper-right corner, then select the desired year in the drop-down list.
A small number of past school years do not have schools assigned to district screening windows. In those cases, all student test scores will be shown in Schoolzilla. If you are working in one of those school years, you will see the following reminder:
These district windows can still be edited, but schools cannot be assigned to them; the arrow at the end of the row (which shows/hides schools assigned to a district screening window) will not be shown.
