Hi everyone! I
am helping to plan and organize my First
Fundraiser Walk for LUNGevity Foundation based out
of Chicago. I need your help to make this event
successful. I am counting on my friends and
family.
You may have
heard me talk about my best friend in high school,
Jill Feldman. She was diagnosed with stage 1A lung
cancer in January of 2009. Because both of her
parents, her aunt and two of her grandparents died
from lung cancer, she had been receiving annual CT
(computer tomography) scans of her lungs for
several years. Her doctor found evidence of a
lesion a few years ago, began to monitor it and
determined that it was time to remove it, based on
a December 2008 scan. Jill had a lobectomy on
January 19th, 2009. Her biopsy had indicated
that the removed mass had adenocarcinoma cells
mixed with a BAC (bronchioalveolar carcinoma)
growth pattern, with no lymph node involvement.
Jill is expected to make a full recovery.

My grandfather
also died on Lung Cancer when I was in high
school. It affects everyone. Just ask around.
Everyone you know has been affected
somehow.
The Walk
will be held on Sunday Feb 21st, 2010 at
Kiwanis Park Ruben Romero Ramada. It is a
family event. Please visit www.lungevity.org/phoenix to
sign up for the walk. You can help in many
ways:
1. Register
for the event (IT IS A GOOD CAUSE!) and get a
group of friends/family together to join you. You
will be given your own website once you register
to get your friends to sign up. The TEAM
with the most people in it will get a prize from
me! Please don't hesitate. JUST SIGN
UP!
2. Register
for the event as a virtual walker. You can
sign up and choose to walk from home or watch the
event online as your friends and family
walk.
3.
Donate: maybe you don't want to participate
in the walk? Just donate for a good
cause.
4.
Volunteer: We need approximately 20-30
volunteers for the event. Let me know if you would
like to help.
5.
Sponsor: Do you work for a company that
would be willing to sponsor all or some of the
event? We will market them on the website,
t-shirts, banners and more.
REGISTRATION FEES: includes a hot
breakfast after the walk, and free activities and
goodies for the
kids.
