I wonder if your sail slides will still snag on it.

The only way it would get loaded is if a sail slug happened to sit right on it and you were on port tack and it was quite windy. That's pretty unlikely but possible? And even if it doesn't at full hoist it might with a reef. If I were getting a new main I would double check that. But it's a pretty easy thing to avoid? A savy sailmaker should be on top of that.
