In my opinion as one of the groups moderators I don't think this post is appropriate for the group.
If any of the other group members have an opinion please let me know.

Thanks
Guy

Agreed.  Something like a Garmin Quatix watch makes sense as you can control MFD, Autopilot, etc.  but a straight up Apple watch, nah.  Might was well start listing iPads and Macbooks at that point…

+1. If it's useful on a boat, I'm okay with it. If it's just stuff, not here.

Interesting discussion.  I do not feel strongly one way or the other. However, I do have a lot of marine gear to sell, much of which is derived from my Pearson ownership of various models starting with my Electra in 1974.

I could limit my solicitation to ebay, facebook, etc., or for appropriate items start with our group.

However, that would leave me with the responsibility to determine what was appropriate and I'm not sure I want that responsibility.

I am interested to hear what others say?

Is there an established policy?

Hi, for one, I’m all for boating – related for sale posts.

I think if you can put "sailboat" in front of it, its good.  Sailboat anchor, sailboat winch, sailboat paint, plotter, sail, etc.
Sailboat Apple Watch....nope.

I have been able to buy various parts for Skylark, portlight frames, cabinet door hinges, original Wilcox/Crittenden seacocks from members on this Pearson group. Different people have advertised boats for sale.

I find this level of sales helpful.

When people start advertising items that are not related to our boats, I think they should find other market places.

Perhaps we could also create an "in search of" thread where members could post items they need?  If other members don't have them they could also respond with potential sources.  Just a thought.

bigger issue here is that this appears to be a scam Listing.
These watches sell for $800. Also the email address has a number of high value postings for bikes and other items for way under priced. Red flags.
Does anyone know this poster? I’d buy it if it was legit.

The general feeling of the group members is that selling non sailboat related gear on this group is inappropriate.
Please do not post non sailboat items for sale.

Sincerely
Guy (co-moderator)
