hi guys

we didn't get the boat sold yet and will sail it until we do!

In the meantime our stop cable is seized.  We have used anti corrosion and lubricant each season and again yesterday.

Two questions:  any further advice on un-seizing it?  and: best place for a replacement part?

If we can't get it unstuck I will be back to you for help replacing it!

Thank you guys - you are awesome!!!!

Bend it.  If you soak it with penetrating oil, then bend it, it should break the corrosion bond.   If this is happening even though you lube it each year, you are probably using the wrong lube.  You want to use an oil fur lube. One that will stick around and not quickly evaporate.  Chain and cable lube that comes in a spray can is ok, but 30w motor oil is probably better.
There are companies that all they do are make remote control cables.  This one is close to me.

Thank you, Dave.
We just need to know the length of the cable without having to take it out.
Anybody know?

Thank you again

Just wanted to put it to this group 1st that we will be putting up our beloved sweet dreams for sale. We’ve owned her for over 24 years and with current medical things going on for my husband we have decided to put her up for sale, and also the dock we own down here in Cocoa Florida. She’s not ready to be seen yet, but I’m just letting this group know early in case someone might be interested.

Please reach out if you have any interest.

It's ok if the cable is longer than necessary
Put a bend or loop to take up the extra, or cut to length...

I assume you mean the engine shutoff cable. Usually, by the time a cable like this gets stuck, the best move is to just replace it. Putting lubricant in the sheath might help, but that will only be a stop gap.

Thank you, Jeff
I believe we found a replacement and many other 32-1 who have the same problem.

Love the pun intended or not. "Stop gap"

A smile for the day!

another question guys: does anyone know the route the engine stop cable takes from the engine to the control panel in the cockpit?  Hubby measured it yesterday and came back with a measurement over 15ft when the OEM cable that Dave sent a link to is 9ft.

Hubby found that it went from the engine to the stern and back to the control panel thus the long length.  We believe the PO replaced much of the wiring including the stop cable.

thank you again for your help!
