Figured I'd give this a try.

Has anyone managed to find an exact replacement for the bow navigation light for a 90 31-2? I've looked and searched all over and cannot find an exact replacement.

If not, has anyone found a way to replace it otherwise....right now I need to keep mine in place with zip ties each season as the plastic has broken within the light.

FYI...the black zip ties are usually much more uv resistant than the white ones.
Some even specify for outdoor use.

I use black so as to blend in with the black light :)  the UV is a bonus :)

It reminds me of an AquaSignal with rail mount.
here's a link to a list of bi-color nav lights, it might be time to replace it with a LED unit.
Fisheries Supply offers a wide variety of navigation lights, including Perko, Aqua Signal and Sea-Dog Line LED navigation lights. Shop our boat navigation lights today!

thanks for the suggestion. I searched rail mount and found that what I've been looking for is actual 2 separate pieces, not 1 as I had been searching for. The only place so far though that I've been able to find the rail mount piece is in the UK, but I'm still looking.

thanks again for the clarity!

As I discovered a year ago when I had the same issue, the rail mount piece has been discontinued by AquaSignal.  Mine was busted when a big power boater got his bow rail tangled up in mine while I was anchored.  Fortunately I was able to put the rail mount piece back together with some aluminum channel and screws.  Kind of a duct tape/baling wire solution, but it worked.  Good luck with yours.

I'm thinking I may have to go this way as well. I found 2 of the units in the UK, but with shipping and customs fees, and paying in Euros, it's going to cost me will over $100CDN. So I'm thinking like you and will look at repairing it more than just using zip ties and go from there. From what I read about Aqua's mounts, they seem to expect us to use the metal flush mount I use for my back stern light also on rails I guess by screwing it onto the rail itself.   Of course if you're interested, I could order the 2 for both of us and we could split the shipping/custom costs :)

Thanks for the info!

Chances are pretty good that your local library has a 3D printer (my town library has a couple in its "Maker Space").  You could use the old part as a model for the new one, and print a new part.  You might be able to get somebody there to help you with it.

Or there's the possibility that you can order the parts you need, ship
them to my address in Germany and in March I have a friend going to the
US and he could drop your package in the US post.

No shipping from the UK, no customs.

Just had my first experience with a 3D printer when I had a crown replaced.  Didn't know what they were doing till after but it took some pretty sophisticated imaging equipment to print up the new crown.  How would you get a part replicated in a public library??

Seems like black is the go to color for UV protection.  Have had identical mooring lines, one white and the other black, with totally different lifespans exposed to sunlight.  The black lines suffered far less UV damage and lasted much longer than the white lines.

Some of the libraries have 3d scanners and printers.  If no scanner, then you have to create a 3d model of the part.  They have the software to take a 3d model and slice it up for the layers in a 3d printed part.  Creating a complex model can be very difficult if you are not into 3d cad.  You can always call the library and ask them what they can do.

They printed a crown, as in tooth crown?  That must have been temporary?

Assumed it was a 3D printer as they didn’t take a mold, just used some imaging equipment and I was out of there  with a new crown in not much over an hour.  If I’d wanted gold, it would’ve taken days.

I had something like that done about 10 or 15 years ago, but they carved it out of a piece of porcelain. The imaging equipment was so it would fit properly into the area carved by the dentist. It's possible they can print a crown now. They can print in many materials.

The piece to attach the lights to the rail would, I think, be simple relative to a tooth.

I installed one of these lights on my Catalina 22 years ago. I just looked on Catalina Direct, and found that the part was discontinued. However, they recommended this part as a replacement:  https://www.catalinadirect.com/index.cfm/product/3707/navigation-light-bracket-ss-clamp-on.cfm

Why doesn’t aqua signal still make a rail mount bicolor light???  Seems really stupid to discontinue it.  Looks like at least a 1/3rd of the boats on my pier either have one of the aqua signals or some other form of bow pulpit mounted light.  I had to have a plate welded onto my pulpit wihen I couldn’t find any other way to mount a light.

Read more closely. The parts would be delivered in March. Brexit starts
at the end of March.

I regularly purchase items from Defender deliver them to an address in
PA where they are loaded onto a 40' container with used motorcycles and
delivered to Germany.

I save hundreds...A Seatalk 1 to Seattle ng converter cable costs $90
at Defender and in my local chandlery 140 EUROS.

It would be easy to give my friend who ships the motorcycles an
addressed package and have him drop it off at the US Post when he
arrives. He flies over in March to pack the container.

Just trying to be helpful, as I have previously written, chandlery
prices in Europe can be US list price PLUS shipping and customs. The
Europeans don't know the meaning of the word "discount".

Yeah, I should have put a smiley face after the Brexit comment. It was a joke. At the rate things are going in Brittan, they'll be extending the deadline.

When I had a same day crown done they started with a piece of ceramic material and used a CNC cutting machine to grind the new crown. The imaging process sounds just like what they did for Peter, a bunch of pictures with a "camera" that fit in my mouth. After the crown was fit to me they did something else to "harden" it. I didn't watch that being done but I did watch the crown get cut.

Suppose I can go to the local library the next time and print a new tooth??? :-))

I replaced mine last season.  Was an exact replacement

I am pretty sure I purchased an optional LED bulb with it,

thanks, but as discussed above, I've discovered that the light consists of 2 pieces....the light itself AND a rail mount bracket, and it's the bracket that has broken. I have found what appears to be the last 2 brackets in the world in the UK (your link shows a picture of it, but they don't sell it any longer as it's been discontinued), and I am in the process of ordering them, and thanks to George, I will have them sometime by March/April :)  Thanks again to ALL for their input!!!

Crowns are still milled from ceramic. My dentist let me watch the entire project.

Final manufacturing step is painting to match tooth color and firing in kiln.
