I need a porthole replacement gasket for my Pearson 31-2. Unfortunately, I don't know the brand or where to find one. I've included some photos of one from another porthole. Anyone know where I can find one?

Thanks in advance,
Greg Carleu

Have you tried Beckson Marine in Bridgeport CT?  That’s where I bought a gasket - I have a ‘87 31-2.

I took my gasket to a marine chandlery.  They had gasket material on a roll.  I installed the casket so the butt ends are located at the top of the port.  Also you will need to use a 3m glue, it’s yellow, for the installation.  Works great and no leaks

Cheers

They are Beckson windows.  There are 2 different sizes needed:  I believe 3 of the 410 model and 4 of the 512 model
Any marine store who stocks Beckson should have them.  When it's time to put them on, find something just the right size to stretch them out just a bit and put one at a time in the sun for 30-60 minutes....it will make your job ALOT easier!!!  I also replaced the screw on hold down knobs with the updated leverage ones.

My ports have leaked for 15yrs on my P26...had them out and rebedded twice. My lockers under the seats in the cabin fill w water. I even removed the glass from the frame and reglazed them. NOW ...im reading you have gaskets? I dont believe mine have any gaskets the aluminum butts right up against the fiberglass cut out. . Ive been rebedding them w a combo of bytoul tape and bedding adhesive. The only rubber gasket i have is the one on the inside of the port that runs inside the aluminum track that i think does nothing to seal....mostly for looks. Is there a gasket between the portlight and fiber cut out on the outside? Maybe thats been the issue. Didnt mean to hijack your post. Thanks V

Mine didn’t, but they do now.  I used 1/8” closed cell foam tape.  1” wide, sticky one side.  Applied to inside of the frame, not the gelcoat.  Trimmed with a blade.  Worked well, 3 seasons now.  I figure every 5 years or so I’ll pop them out and either replace the tape or go around another time, probably every other time.  I didn’t use sealant, that makes it more likely I’ll actually take them out again in a couple of years.

The Becton directions for how to install the portlights are very helpful. They want us to be happy with their products and put out a solid installation manual that's also great for rebedding.

Note that they tell us that tighter on tje windows whem we clost them isn't better because we can crush the gaskets. Small leaks at the gasket can be addressed with cleaning. Once crushed, they probably won't seal very well

Very true on the crushing if too tight, but using a rubber renewing fluid and leaving them open, or loose for a bit can really help extend their life usage.

Defender or Beckson:
Beckson Window Port Gasket GK-410, GK-512
I replaced gaskets and screens. I did do a self repair on a few of the screens as I had some screen left from doing a home screen repair. I used what I had but words of wisdom.....if the screen is too dense it keeps the bugs out but also the air is cut down. My boat harbors in wine country, near orchards, so keeping the fruit flies out in the fall is a bonus.
Have a hair dryer handy to heat the gasket and be patient. It WILL FIT,EVENTUALLY, but it will seem like they sent you the wrong size. Another thing, when u close the window for the 1st time, heat the gasket with the hair dryer, close+lock the window while the rubber is warm and leave it. The new gasket is not moooshed down like the old one and the window closing will be difficult. Warm the rubber!!!!
On a yearly basis I clean the rubber and treat it with gasket treatment. It comes from the auto store with an applicator similar to shoe polish....container with a sponge at the end. I also use it on my Outback doors& windows to keep the rubber pliable to cut down on noise...she is 11 yrs old and the rubber looks great.
