Has anybody had experience selling a boat on boat trader?
I've gone on there to put ours up for sale selected the price which allowed unlimited photos and then attempted to upload photographs. Only four would upload.
I've used the support to get to a person to find out what's going wrong but I have no response

Thank you

The only responses i received drom those "professional" sites were all scammers.   Had some fun with those.

Unless you have a highly sought, valuable boat, id focus on three areas:  FB marketplace (mostly local interest and low cost for folks in the area to see your boat); online design groups for your craft (often someone knows someone who's interested in your type/model); yacht clubs and groups that tend to have similar boats (e.g. C&C is popular in the great lakes, so i spread the word there just in case)

Took about 4 months to sell miine (2 years ago), for close to asking.  Had three legitimate who came to see/sail.  All within 30 minutes drive and all found her through FB marketplace.

This is the right time of year to start the listing.

Good luck!

"Design groups"  online groups for the boat manuf/model (such as this Pearson Goggle group, or, i belong to a Pearson P35 FB group, etc)

Likewise if your boat is a popular racing or cruising model, if there is a cluster of these owners who gather occasionally - join those groups and let them know yours is available.  Etc.

One more thing

I created a one-page for the adverts
Then i created a set of "albums": deck, rig, hull, interior, systems (engine, drive train, water, head/plumbing) etc. with half-dozen or so pics each, to make it easy to send to those interested.   Make sure to put together a few key under-sail pics from on board and from offboard to show the beauty and get people dreaming about sailing your boat...

Finally, remaining "projects" will turn potential buyers off.   Dirt and smells will put off one of the partners/spouse.  Very few are looking for a sweat equity project.  Everyone wants to show off to their friends what a great boat they acquired.  So, complete any of those you can, and highlight any improvements that help the new owner not have to worry about their next season.

Personally, when we were selling our O'Day those different online ads did nothing. Unfortunately we ended up with a broker where their fee is 10%. We live 5 hrs from where the boat was stored for the winter and since it did not sell while in the water with the online ads a broker made sense as making multiple trips to the boat for a dead-end prospect did not make sense.
What helped the sale was I included a spreadsheet of all the improvements/maintenance of the boat...what,yr, why, cost, pro vs owner, etc. The new owner wanted me to take it off the market til they could get a professional survey which would take months. I played hardball and refused to sign. My documentation spoke for itself and the sale went thru.
Another thing....I HATE when people ad their boat with crap all over. Clean up the inside, unclutter your personal crap and let the new owners see the purity of the boat. Would u sell a house with dog toys spewn all over, lawn not cut, dirty dishes? Doubt it....
Good luck, I feel your pain of selling.

All,

My 10m was listed on Craigslist, but the ad was actually rebroadcast by a local Instagram account ‘Pocket Cruising Trader’. That was awesome, because I wasn’t looking for a boat, but this popped up in my feed.

Here in the SF Bay, we also have Latitude 38 magazine’s ’Classy Classifieds’ which always has some nice boats.
