Here are some pics of my P26 masthead. From all the way in the year 2000 so sorry for the quality. It was a bit busy with some halogen lights that did an amazing job of Illuminating the sails at night.

Spinnaker halyard. That was OEM hardware on my mast. Held up fine. For a 28 it would probably be similar but beefier. The halyard on mine was external. I did rig with internal halyards for the main and one jib halyard. I left the other jib halyard external so it could raise the jib or the main as a backup.

Hi Dan,After sailing Beneteau and Hunter boats for over 5 decades, I bought a 1986 Pearson 28-2 ( always admired Pearson boats ).
On dry right now, taking care of the hull...
Looking at your pictures, is the extra pulley on the mast plate for your gennaker / spinnaker?
I'm not crazy about running an extra internal halyard for a gennaker...I would rather go the external route.
My question is:If it really is for your gennaker, have you had any problems with plate / mounting hardware strength?
I need all the help I can get...a sailboat is a sailboat...in principle. But, I am learning that Hunters and Pearsons are very different "animals"...
Looking forward to enjoying ours. Thanks for your patience.
Kindest regards,

I replaced my combo steaming/deck light with this unit from Marine Beam. It didn't perfectly fit the forward curve of my mast (10M) that I filled in with butyl tape. Great light, deck light is super bright.IP67 USCG Certified 3NM LED Combination Masthead Steaming and Deck Light

I would love to see how others have their mast head set up.Finally does anyone know of a drop in replacement to the steaming light? Our bulb is dead and its style isn't around any more. It would be bonus points for led. Here's photos of mine as well.

You
.
Very bright lights that shine down on deck. One angled fwd and one angled aft. they would light up the sails really well so ships could see me. Maybe a bit bright for work lights but great for being seen.
They are small (3.5") halogen driving lights for a car. that was almost 30 yes ago. I'd use LED today.
