If my boat has one, I don't know where it is.  Anyone know where I can get a replacement?  Do any other 31-2 owners happen to have a picture?  I don't even know what it looks like.

Any help is appreciated!

For what its worth, the 31-2 manual says it's located in the sail locker.  They have a diagram that might help with what it looks like.

Here is the location of the emergency tiller on a 31-2.  In the cockpit just forward  of the transom.  I’ll get a photo of the handle this afternoon and send it to you

Have a look here for parts – our original cover was cracked and leaking, this cover is from a sunfish.

Its a long aluminum tube, with a bend at about 1/3 of the length, maybe 1 or 2 inches in diameter. Hope that helps!

Be well,

Yeah, if the real thing is supposed to look anything like this drawing, I definitely don't have one.  Online searches for a replacement have been unsuccessful.

You can make one or have one made.
Take off the cover and measure the square end of the shaft.  Find something that fits the shaft, a piece of aluminum or steel tubing perhaps.  Bend a piece of pipe and have it welded to the square tubing.
If your on salt water Id go with aluminum and then paint it.  If not, steel would work.  Just paint it well.

These guys will sell you cut offs and short lengths of tubing.   And their delivery costs are reasonable.

I have one that came with my 10M that was not quite the right unit.  Works but is shaped to clear a rear-mounted wheel.  Mine is forward and I now have the correct emergency tiller.  You can have this one if it will fit your boat.  1" square on the bottom and oriented so the square is on the diagonal when the rudder is straight (if that makes sense?).

Might be expensive to ship though.  Where are you located?

Not at my boat til nxt wk but mine was stored in the lazerette.
I checked my cover this past wk, the o-ring was missing. My cover is a Beckson 4" screw in deckplate. P.O. replaced the o-ring with some tar-like gunk. I ordered a new o-ring. The deckplate opens to the steering system, the last thing I want is a leak that drips thru to the quarter berth with either a hard rain or a good cockpit cleaning.
It sounds like others will be sending you pics or measurements. I am 4 hrs away, otherwise I would send them.
While you are.at.it, ck your emergency bilge pump too. It is located port cockpit, near the propane locker. Not sure.where your handle is located, mine was in the propane locker. I had to relocate it when a coastie did a boat inspection....nothing but.propane.is.supposed to be in the propane locker.
