For those who hate the Standard Horizon 5 BEEP ALERT for no location detected!

I like to have my VHF on all the time when on the water (it's actually the law, at least in Canada) and I've spent a decade dealing with those SH beeps after the 1st 10 minutes, and then every 4 hours after that.  But I FINALLY  found a way to stop them....put the radio in "demo" mode and they won't happen. And if you've got your radio connected to your GPS for proper location on the radio in case you need to push the "red" button, the radio works proper location info available, but once the GPS info has stopped sending to the VHF (which causes the beeps), the radio reverts to demo mode and NO BEEPS!  The location, time, etc info won't be accurate, but I can deal with that while at anchor!  My little piece of heaven :)
