My 1983, P303 has Wilcox Crittenden deck fills (assuming original equip). By what I can find on the internet, these were discontinued a long time ago by W-C, I should replace the diesel fill. It has a lot of pitting in the threads and the cap is loose while threading in, it also doesn't seal no matter what size O ring I use unless I over tighten it.
Has anyone had experience in replacing these and know of a substitute from another manufacturer that comes close to the 3 1/2 inch flange and bolt pattern that would work? Also, has anyone had luck in finding replacement caps that would fit?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Don

Don,
I can tell you that I've been on the hunt for the same fitting. Although my reason was switching from gas to diesel. My fitting didn't even have an O-ring. Imagine the water that was let him as a result of that.  I did find an O ring that managed to allow me to make the seal. I believe the only way you can make it work is to move to a 2 inch Fill. Then you have the added problem of reducing somewhere along the line, or replacing the tank inlet.   Best of luck, I'll be watching this thread.

Thanks for the suggestion Ron, but I'm hoping there is an easier way than adaptors.

I wish it was that easy Guy.
These deck fills have a 3 1/2 inch flange on top of a 2 1/4 inch neck going through a 2 1/2 inch hole in the cockpit sole then down to the 1 1/2 inch hose neck.

Thanks

Speaking of Walmart... I noticed they have really cheap LED light bulbs. So I'm thinking the bases probably aren't stainless steel? Perhaps a bad idea?

typical automotive bulbs rely on the case to make the ground connection, while typical marine bulbs have both positive and negative terminals independent from the case.
1142 is a single filament double contact marine bulb. Be careful if you order on eBay, many of the bulbs advertised as 1142 are not.
