The sliding hatch on our P31-2 companionway has a tendency to stick, a few times on hot days I've had to remove the alu trim strips to free it up. So I have removed it and cleaned out a collection of builtup dirt, any advice as to a suitable lubricatant for re-installing?  The hatch slides directly on the fg frame of the companionway/deck, nothing to reduce friction except a lubricant.

I would try waxing it or try a dry spray type like McLube or Elmers Slide-All.  You can spray some on a rag and wipe it onto the surface to prevent over-spray issues.

I use wax and it works very well and doesn't attract dirt buildup.

Best,
Alan

Mclube is awesome and lasts awhile especially on something like this.

Parrafin wax like the stuff your grandmother used to seal jelly and jam in jars.  or just use a bar of bath soap, Irish Spring smalls very nice.
