I think this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find it when I searched previous conversations, so forgive me if I ask again.

The recessed, round cabinet pulls on my 1978 P365 are 1.75 inches (about 44 mm) diameter, and all the ones I am finding for sale are about 2 inches.  Does anybody know where I can find one that is 1.75 inches?  If not, I'll have to buy them in 2 inches, make a router template, and replace them all.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff;
Are you talking about the teak finger holes used on some Pearsons?

You guys were confusing me.  I thought the early Pearsons used the latch inside the hole catches?  My 10M #26 has them.  Its a hole with a plastic ring lining the hole, and there is a lever latch inside the door or drawer that must be pulled to open with your finger.  Clever.  They work.

That looks like it's about 1.5" diameter, which would make it a little smaller than what came with the boat.  I would rather go too large than too small.  It's easier to remove material than add it.

Yes, I have cabinets that have a hole, lined with a teak piece, and a latch inside the hole.  That works fine most of the time*, but that's not what I have here.  This is a pull that has a ring.  The broken one is on the ice box lid, so a hole with a latch probably wouldn't work as well here.  I expect that my solution will be to buy the 2" ones and replace them all (2 on the ice box lid and, I think, 1 on a storage compartment lid).

Jeff

*The one place I have found where the hole that you stick your finger into to release the latch is less than optimal is when the boat is pitching.  There's a possibility that you could break, or at least hurt, your finger in there.

Another problem with the elbow catch is objects inside the cabinet can press against the catch allowing the door to open. Boat heals over, Rum hits catch, opens door and lands on cabin floor. :>(

I dealt with this by replacing the finger breaker latch with push button latches in the original hole. I used two different types but similar application.
