P303 collects water on quarters

My P303 collects water on the port and starboard quarters. This is seemingly by design since the deck is built with a depression there with nowhere for the water to drain. This of course gives me concern for water intrusion, ice issues in the winter etc.

This seems like a weird design choice but has this caused any issues with water intrusion for other P303 owners? Is there a wisdom to this design that I'm not seeing?
