Long time follower here.  My waste holding tank on my Pearson 1988 31-2 developed a crack and is leaking.  I was wondering if anyone has replaced theirs and where they purchased it.  My tank is under the v-birth and has the original sticker on it. It is a Kraycor 24 gallon tank model 6790.  I called Kraycor and they want me to send a drawing of the tank as they were not able to reference the model number. Hopefully they will have one that will fit.

I was also wondering if anyone has had luck repairing cracks in plastic tanks so I can use mine while I am searching for a new one.  It has a 4 in horizontal crack near the outlet at the bottom.  Also if anyone has other sources for tanks, custom or otherwise, cause I doubt that they still have 29 year old molds.

Thanks everyone,

Bob

I installed a new-to-boat waste tank last year on my P30.
I used Triple M Plastics out of Maine. It's ~ 20 gals and ran me $750 or so.
I had sent them drawings with dimensions to fabricate it with a 6 week turnaround
No issues so far.

They were less expensive by about $300 from two other quotes.

If it's not too late, you might want to measure out the tank area and expand the original somewhat. The one is my 90 31-2 had been replaced with a newer 25 gallon one, but if they had utilized ALL the space available, I'm sure it could've reached 30 gallons or more, which would be another few days at anchor...which I do for 90+ straight days, making the holding tank my main reason for having to ever dock it :(    Also if yours is like mine, and sounds like it is, it drains from the bottom, but you may want to consider the newer style that drains from the top, that way the hose isn't always permeating and won't need changing as often. I may also be cheaper to install your own hose connections as I did this year. They're available and have rubber on both sides for a perfect seal, then you don't have to worry about breaking the built in ones they install making the tank as they can sometimes be somewhat fragile.

Good Luck!!!

Last Resort,
Do you have any information on where the tank was purchased and if it was a stock size?  I will look into the newer drain design and connectors.
Thank you,

Bob

sorry Bob, I don't. As I said, it's somewhat smaller than the area could allow, and with some exact measurements, I'm sure it could be enlarged next time. I imagine the previous owner just got a stock replacement at the time. When the time comes, I can help you with the connectors if you go that way. You can reach me at lastresort252 at gmail dot com directly should you need to.

Good Luck,

Bob, did you ever get a replacement tank?

My tank number is #5159 which cross references to 2-70824B.

If anyone else replaced theirs, it would be great if you would let me know who made it.

Kracor is out of business now.

Dan,
I just called their number and they said they were bought out by Yamaha 2 years ago.  But they are still in business and still make holding tanks.

Here is the number to call with the tank information from a previous post

The tank is made by Kracor in Milwaukee, WI
The tank number is 2-6790 and costs $482 + $90 shipping
I spoke with George Edwards, he was very helpful, it shipped when they said it would and it is a perfect fit.

Here is the diagram they sent me.  It was an exact fit.

If you move forward be sure to fill the tank with water to check your connections and fittings before you close it up.

Hope this helps

I just got off the phone with them and they said they no longer sell retail at all and that I have to go through the manufacturer.

Here's a photo of the sanitary gasket. It has a bead in it that matches the Grove in the Kracor tanks.
