It Is also in a soundproof box..  2 years ago our exhaust elbow went out.  After we pulled it out to work on it, I decided to cut out the top of the chart table and put a piano hinge on it.  I can now work on it while it's in place.  The Gen set is about 16 inches above the floor so I still have room to store tools.

My water heater is starboard of the galley sink under the cabinet.  In order to get a genset under the companionway steps I can relocate my water maker and my house water pump/accumulator. The only thing I don't like about locating the genset there, is it places it over the keel sump and a few other items I have  in the bilge forward of the v-drive and engine.

I would hate to lose the storage in the walk through since its easy to access and there's a lot of it.  Under the chart table is interesting...  The northern lights must be fairly compact to fit there.
