My list of projects on s/v Salvation for the past three years (on top
of annual maint.):
A couple of more years and she will be right shipshape.

Yanmar 3YM30, v-drive, shaft and prop.
Teak trim on cockpit cubbies
2nd set sheet winches
Halyards, sheets, topping lift
Vang-preventers, 4 pt P & S
Refinish mast w/ white epoxy, add cleats
Manual emergency bilge pump
Remove wallpaper & refinish teak main blkd
1800 w DC/AC inverter
400A, 4-battery bank
Raymarine C-80 w/ radar, gps
Raymarine wheel pilot
Refinish interior & exterior teak
Raymarine sounder & speed log w/ brz thruhulls
Groundplate
All rewired to ABYC specs+ w/ new panels and breakers
Complete re-plumbed
Water heater
Pressure pump & pulse tank
Stbd side head refit incl. sink, faucets, w/c, bubunga & teak cabinet
Port hanging locker face & louvered doors, bubinga & teak
Shower sump pump
All thru-hull fittings
Dodger
Bronze opening portlights w/ screens
Woodstove, granite hearth and chimney w/ bubinga support column
New galley stove, microwave oven w/ bubinga & teak cabinetry
Compass rebuild
Maxwell 1500# windlass with chain wheel & capstan
New overhead panels w/ fabric headliner
Teak interior hatch trim
Washdown pump w/ quick hose connects
Replace stbd focsle storage w/ door unit
Add 3rd reef to mainsail
Teak outboard bracket, cockpit jackline plates

Makes me tired just looking at it (and now I know why I'm always
broke)-

Why all this time and money?

The 323 is structurally superior to most stock boats in today's
market. In the era in which 323's were built, I worked for a custom
sailboat builder doing interior joinerwork, and the 323 is as well
constructed, if not superior to, the equally sized models we produced.
Of course, at 1/4 the price it was not the cosmetic equivalent.
However, when you buy one today for $6500, you can easily create your
perfect little cruiser for a fraction of the cost (with much more
quality) than modern production boats.
