I was trying to figure out how to install peer on mac OS X and started trying compiling it from source when I stumbled upon a stack overflow comment that complained that

brew tap homebrew/science; brew install pear doesn't install the PHP package manager it installs "PEAR: a fast and accurate Illumina Paired-End reAd mergeR". I haven't been able to figure out how to install pear after the fact with brew.

I'm sorry for that guy/girl but that made my day!

However I couldn't find any reference for that on the website or on the github read-me. Did I miss it? Maybe worth adding? Or is there a reason for why there is no reference?

Hello Fabian,

sorry for the delayed answer. Compiling PEAR on mac OSX should be the same as for linux (described on the GitHub readme). Please let me know if you have any problems with it.

Best regards,
Tomas
