Actually, it isn't possible to change the location of the
configuration file. We kept it visible in the GUI so users can easily
find its location. Would you like to store it somewhere else for
backup purposes?

Thinking about backing up the configuration file was how I realised I
could not move it. Routinely, we back up network drives but not local
disks, so nothing on my C drive gets backed up without some special
arrangement. Given that a lot of important settings will accumulate in
the Peaks .config file I was thinking to locate it on a network drive.
And then pray the network never goes down...

That's a good idea to keep a copy of the Peaks config file in a safe
place. I think the best option would be to save a copy of the config
file on the network drive every once and a while. You can reach the
config file by following the path: My Computer -> C: -> Documents and
Settings -> [user name] -> .peaks and save a copy of 'peaksconf.xml'
to the network drive. Another option would be to use a program called
'rsync' which you can configure to back up important files
automatically every once and a while.
