Hi Folks,
Sometimes PEAKS Studio needs to be re-installed, because the computer
got a virus, had to be wiped, or something caused an error on
installation. And when you re-install, you have to re-register right?
And sometimes that means you have to ask BSI to update the registration
key, right?

Actually no.

The folder c:\program files\peaks studio\ver\ contains the license
information (and links to other information) that PEAKS checks when it
starts. It is specific to the version (i.e. 4.2) and the computer. If
you make a copy of it before you wipe your disk, you can put it back
after reinstalling.

Of course it has to be the same version and the same computer.

Thanks to Gunnar for helping with this post. It worked for him, I hope
many of you find it useful too.

Best wishes for a prosperous new year,
-IainR

HI Iain,

We have the PEAKS online running. I have been using it and it seems
to be good. One thing I want to suggest is to have a Daemon so we
can submit a batch of samples without having to do it one at a
time. I like the Daemon I have for Mascot. Do you have something
like that soon ?

Peter
