Jai Jinendra
Arihant is the most sacred name only after Siddha. Ari refers to Moha.
Hant refers to destruction. Ksheena moha, Jitamoha, Mohan(t) etc. are
the synonyms. Ksheena moha is the mental state which is at the 12th
level or gunasthan in Jain etymology. There are four types of defects
(ghati kharma) which hinder our true expressions of super
consciousness.
They are
Mohaniya – the truth-obscuring karma
Jnanavaraniya, the knowledge-obscuring karma
Darshanavarniya, the vision-obscuring karma and
antaraya – the power obscuring karma.
The soul has chaitanya, the super consciousness. Chaitanya has two
parts: vision and knowledge. Vision is an integrated or holistic view
while knowledge is in detail.
Mohaniya karma blocks the true chaitanya or colours it or changes its
direction.
Antaraya reduces its reach in any dimension of space, place, time,
object etc.
Once Mohaniya is annihilated, in next few instants other three are.
Arihant has annihilated all these four defects in totality. If one
invokes the name of Arihant with sincere devotion, all obstacles
vanish. One cannot do any harm after such a prayer. I cannot in a way
be mute in appreciating the people in naming the INS Submarine as
Arihant. These people probably know the spell of Arihant as explained
above. Only their target of annihilation is external enemies as
explained by many. In that sense, this naming is totally misplaced.
But the name Arihant is commonly used in business by Jains. But few
objected to it.
By naming the submarine, Arihant, the concerned people have sent a
message that this deterrent hopefully would never require to be used.
Amen.
