Jai Jinendra,

Dear All,

I am planning to visit Sammeda Sikarji. I was searching on internet, and found some useful information (below).

"The Samet Shikhar Hill near Madhuvan is at a height of 4450 feet from the sea-surface. The nearest railway station of Girdih is at a distance of nearly 25 kilometers from the tirth of Madhuvan at the foot of the hill. Bus service and private vehicles are available. One can climb the hill on foot or in a swinging cot. There are Svetamber and Digambar dharmashalas. There are good bhojanashalas, too. On the hill, there is an arrangement for bathing water. "

I am planning to leave Bangalore on Monday 19th and return Saturday 24th. (Since I am returning to California on 26th for studies, I have only 5 days time).

Since this is my first trip, I do not have much idea. Please provide me guidance on travel (which airport I should land?, and so on), and also the nearby temples I should visit.

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,
Abhijith D.A.

The easiest and shortest route shall be (1) go to Kolkata by air; (2) catch a train from Howrah to Dhanbad which takes 3 to 4 hours; (3) take taxi from Dhanbad to Madhuban straight.

For Trains, visit the Site www.indianrail.gov.in where you shall get all the information including reservations both ways.

For road route from Dhanbad to Madhuban, visit Site www.mapmyindia.com where you can get a fair idea of distance and route.  I had been going this way till 1988 and if I remember correctly, Taxi from Dhanbad to Madhuban should not take more than 2 hours.

I understand that now there are some Dharamshalas on the Hill also which reduces the walking distance by about 10 Km.

Thanks and Regards
