International Coastal Cleanup in RI
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi, Everyone,
In case you want to help clean up our shoreline on Saturday Sept 15. It all matters. From our neighbor July Lewis. Happy rainy Saturday. Doug Victor
Audubon Society of Rhode Island is proud to sponsor the International Coastal Cleanup in Rhode Island in 2012! At this event, volunteers all over the world not only clean up trash on the beaches, they record what they find. The Ocean Conservancy compiles this data and issues an annual report on marine debris, raising awareness of the problem and giving policy makers tools to fight the problem at its source. Click here for the 2011 Rhode Island ICC Report.
This year's cleanup is on Saturday, September 15. If you would like to take part in beautifying your community and making the beaches safer for wildlife, click here for a list of local beach cleanups seeking volunteers! Contact the cleanup leader listed to let them know you will be coming. Even if you can't make it on September 17, you can still participate! Some cleanups are taking place at a different date or time--check the list for details.
If you are interested in other volunteer opportunities with Audubon, please check out our volunteer web page. If you have questions about the cleanup or would like to organize a site of your own, please let me know. I would be happy to talk to you!
Thanks for caring about our coasts!
Yours,
July Lewis
