Promoting peace and understanding
by the simple act of placing a free book in someone's hand.
World Book Night
Tuesday, April 23rd, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Knight Memorial Library lawn, 275 Elmwood Ave, Providence
Friends of Knight Memorial Library will celebrate World Book Night 2013 by giving away 20 copies of each of these books:
City of Thieves by David Benioff
The House on Mango Street by Brenda Cisneros
Playing for Pizza by John Grisham
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
“What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet or excite you. Books help us understand who we are and how we are to behave. They show us what community and friendship mean; they show us how to live and die.”
— Anne Lamott
This is the second U.S. World Book Night,
a celebration launched in the UK in 2011 to promote the joy and love of reading.
