Hi, Neighbors,
I'd like to invite you to help out with our neighborhood's upcoming annual event.... Now Playing at Peace and Plenty Park
Date: Sunday, August 26 4:00 - 7:00 PM
The event promises to be a wonderful event full of fun and community spirit.
We are all working hard to turn around the recent upswing of crime in our area and build a stronger sense of neighborhood. This event will celebrate us as a neighborhood and your help will contribute to a greater sense of neighborhood feeling.
What you can do to help:
Some advance things that need doing this coming week: sprucing up the park...
weeding the planting beds and tree wells, mulching our new street trees
graffiti removal, litter control and fliering the neighborhood
NOTE: We will be weeding the gardens and caring for the trees tomorrow Sunday at 10:00 AM and again at 2:00
Bring spades, clippers, rakes, wheelbarrows, work gloves, paper yard debris bags and water to drink
There is much to do and we need your help to accomplish it all. Thank you.
Some things event day: picking up tents, tables and chairs, picking up ice cream and drinks, setting up (2:00 - 3:00PM)
helping with refreshments and at community tables (3:30 - 7:00) and breaking down (7:00 - 7:30)
To help just come to one of the scheduled times tomorrow or contact Doug Victor at doug....@juno.com or 401-521-0546. Thank you!
We have several community groups with table displays coming. They are: Elmwood Neighborhood Association, Southside Community Land Trust, Environmental Justice League of Rhode Island, Urban Ponds Procession, Police District 2 Neighborhood Crime Watch, Friends of Knight Memorial Library, Friends of Peace and Plenty Park and more.
We will have some wonderful entertainment including: Music One, The Community Music School, Storyteller Val Tutson, the Burundi Drummers, a special presentation by neighborhood children and more.
Of course you can just come to enjoy yourselves, meet your neighbors and be part of a larger neighborhood presence.
Hope to see you!
Doug Victor
