Centre for Study of Society and Secularism is pleased to announce that the Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer Lifetime Achievement Award, 2021 is conferred upon Prof. Abdus Sattar Dalvi, renowned scholar, linguist, & translator (1982-1997) and former Krishn Chandar Professor and Founder Head, Department of Urdu, University of Mumbai. Prof. Dalvi has made a seminal contribution to Urdu literature through his writings and translations of Marathi literature into Urdu.
CSSS is organizing a function for giving this Award to Prof. Abdus Sattar Dalvi on 18th August 2022, (Time 4 pm to 5.30 pm) at ICSSR Hall, J. P Naik Bhavan, University of Mumbai, Kalina Campus, Vidyanagari, Mumbai - 400098
Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer Lifetime Achievement Award is jointly instituted by the Centre for Study of Society and Secularism (CSSS), Central Board of Dawoodi Bohra Community, Institute of Islamic Studies and Bohra Youth Sansthan.
The Award is instituted to recognize contribution of individuals in one or more areas of- reforms in religion, rights of women in Islam, promoting communal harmony and scholarship in liberation theology in Islam.
