Peace over Prejudice is excited to announce many events coming up soon....

Tunnel of Oppression
 Wed, April 7th (tomorrow)
3 Showing Times: 6pm, 7pm, 8pm
MSU Union Ballroom

UAB, Amnesty International, and Peace Over Prejudice are proud to present the 3rd annual showing of a very uniqueevent at MSU called "The Tunnel of Oppression."  This is a theatrical look into the real-life experiences of oppression in its many forms.

Audience members will witness a series of short student-written and performed monologues and skits addressing the many different forms of oppression and discrimination that exist in our society. Some of the critical issues we address this year include Sexism, Homophobia, Body Image, Genocide, Socio-Economic Inequality, and more.  Contact Zain Shamoon @sham...@msu.edu if you have any questions or concerns.

Ending the discrimination and hate that exists in our world today is a duty for each and every one of us. In order to better understand various groups who face injustices, we must hear their stories, and feel their experiences for ourselves.

Project Downtown Service Activity
Friday, April 9th
4pm
(meet at the Islamic Center of East Lansing close to campus
on 920 S. Harrison Rd.)

Join us as we work with a diverse group of students (Muslim Students Association, the Wesley Foundation of Methodist students, and others) to make sandwiches for the homeless, which we will then deliver to a nearby homeless shelter and converse with the people there.

Not only does this activity help fulfill an important immediate need, but it is also mutually beneficial because it can lead to many eye-opening and interesting conversations with people you likely would not normally interact with. Don't miss out on this unique and gratifying service activity.

Freedom Writers: Film Screening and Discussion
Tuesday, April 13th
7-9:30pm
B 108 Wells Hall

We are having a film screening of Freedom Writers as part of a series of our Peace Month events.
"Freedom Writers" is based on a true story about 23-year old teacher who takes on the challenge of teaching a Freshman class in a gang-infested school in Long Beach, California. The teacher, played by Hilary Swank uses unconventional means to break through to her class of hardened students accustomed to violence and acts of prejudice.

We will be having a discussion after the film screening about forms of prejudice in our own lives and how we can go about breaking these barriers to promote peace over prejudice.

Snacks will be provided. Bring your friends!

Reminder: 2nd Annual Art Contest is now continuing until Monday, April 19th! Don't miss out on this chance to win $100 and have your work displayed! Contact pop...@gmail.com with any questions.
