Dear Ecuador PCV's and RPCV's,
I am a RPCV from Senegal and am currently a graduate student
at the University of San Francisco studying Environmental
Management. I am doing a group project on the Eastern
Tropical Pacific Seascape initiative, which seeks to
integrate marine preserves and sustainable fisheries
management in waters spanning Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia
and Ecuador. It is being led by UNESCO and Conservation
International.
To the point, I was wondering if there are any current PCV's
or RPCV's who have had any experience in coastal areas of
Ecuador, and possibly with coastal environmental outreach
projects. We would love to know what local fisherman feel
about this new initiative, whether they've heard of it, or
even any information they would have on fisheries management
in general. If anyone knows of any local resource managers
or NGO's that have this type of experience, or work in these
areas, we would be interested in getting in touch with them
as well. I appreciate your time and consideration!
Sincerely,
Brittany Shampeny
