Learn to lobby your elected officials for peace & justice
Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL)
Hosted by Peace and Social Concerns Committee, Community Friends
Cincinnati
will be holding an informal meeting on:
Effectively Lobbying Our Law Makers
Presenter: Stephen Donohoe, staff member, Friends' Committee on
National Legislation, Washington, D.C.
On: This Saturday at 10:00 to 12:00
March 19, 2011
At: 3315 Ashwood Dr./Cincinnati, OH 45213
phone: Marjorie at
513.631.1221
RSVP appreciated but not needed. Please call with any questions.
Stephen will provide handouts and show a power point presentation.
We will discuss how lobbying might be used to address a variety of
concerns including
the Supreme Court decision on Citizens United. That decision allows
any corporation or
foreign nation to anonymously donate unlimited funds to any political
candidate. There is legislation
which would provide protection from this court decision, and it has
bipartisan support.
Everyone present will have an opportunity to share thoughts about how
a future lobbying workshop
(which will give plenty of advanced notice!) can be shaped to best
fill the needs of Cincinnati's historic peace churches.
