Lahore, Pakistan
Institute for Peace and Secular Studies is organizing a Vigil, on
March 2, 2012, in memory of Shahbaz Bhatti, the Pakistan’s Religious
Minorities Minster, who had been assassinated on March 2, 2011, for
urging reforming of the country’s harsh blasphemy laws. Everyone is
invited to participate in the Vigil, and light a candle in his memory,
at 6 p.m., at Liberty Round About, Lahore. More info from Seeda Diep

The India-Pakistan border at Attari - known for the colourful beating-
the-retreat ceremony every evening - may soon see some girl power. The
Border Security Force (BSF) has drawn up a proposal to introduce an
all-girl parade during the retreat ceremony held simultaneously by BSF
and Pakistani Rangers. At present, two female constables open the
parade as they enter the arena piloting their male counterparts and
stand guard near the international gate till the culmination of the
drill…

Indian and Pakistani businesses said it was high time that the two
countries created a conducive environment for commerce and encourage
free trade. At an interaction organised by the PHD Chamber here
between Gujranwala Chamber of Pakistan and local industry
associations, business leaders called for boosting cross- border trade
between the two nations.

The Old Fort provided the perfect backdrop for an evening of music as
rock musician James from Bangladesh and Indian Ocean took the stage on
Monday evening….The singer has sung for some popular Hindi films, but
he's best known for his Bengali songs. "I just have three Hindi songs
in my pocket. I don't even speak Hindi and my English is worse than my
Chinese," he said at the concert, an initiative by the Times of India
to foster friendship between India and Bangladesh…
