NEW DELHI: Despite the chill in bilateral relations, a series of
visits by Pakistani politicians and officials to India is scheduled in
the upcoming days. Early next year, Pakistani National Assembly
Speaker Fehmida Mirza and Senate Chairman Farooq Naik will visit New
Delhi to participate in a meeting of speakers and presiding officers
of Commonwealth countries. A high-level technical energy delegation
led by Hilal Raza, joint secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and
director general of hydrocarbon, is also going to India next week to
attend the two-day SAARC energy meeting of experts in Goa….The Goa
meeting is expected to discuss the issue of a common energy pricing
formula, joint import of crude oil as well as energy conservation and
efficiency…

NEW DELHI: India has floated a concept paper among the Saarc countries
to start a "demonstration container train" from Bangladesh to Pakistan
via India and Nepal. The possible corridor for running the train is
from Chittagong Port in Bangladesh to Katihar in India, Birgunj in
Nepal and to Lahore in Pakistan, minister of State for railways E
Ahamed said in Rajya Sabha today. In a written reply, he said the
concept paper was floated at the third meeting of the Saarc Inter-
Governmental Group on Transport on July 24 in Colombo…

COLOMBO: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian
Government and Sri Lankan Government on Time Service project was
signed by Indian High Commissioner Ashok K. Kantha and Science and
Technology Ministry Secretary M. B. A. Ekanayake on behalf of the
Government in Colombo yesterday. Under the MoU, the National Physical
Laboratory (NPL), an Indian Government organisation under the Council
for Scientific and Industrial Research of India along with Sir Arthur
C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies in Sri Lanka will set up a
GPS clock, a tele-clock transmitter and a tele-clock receiver…
