India and Pakistan have no alternative to peaceful coexistence and a
shared future of prosperity lies ahead of us in our relations. This
was stated by Professor Najeeb Jung, the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia
Millia Islamia, Delhi, speaking at a roundtable discussion here on
Thursday. Titled “Indo-Pak Bilateral Relations and India’s Search for
Balance”, the discussion was organised by the Islamabad-based think-
tank, Jinnah Institute (JI), as part of its “Distinguished Speaker
Series, an Indo-Pak Track-II initiative”…

In its first public appeal to Taliban and other Afghanistan-based
militant groups, Pakistan on Friday asked them to "turn a new leaf"
and join direct talks with the Kabul government under a peace process
aimed at ending the decade-old war in the neighbouring country. The
appeal was issued by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani who said he was
doing it in response to Afghan President Hamid Karzai's request for
assistance in the peace process…

India and Bangladesh will soon sign an extradition treaty with both
the countries on Friday finalising the finer details of the agreement
which will allow easy deportation of each other's terrorists/criminals
without being trapped in lengthy legal process like the one witnessed
by New Delhi in the case of Ulfa militant Anup Chetia. Both the
countries also discussed the mechanism to move towards a liberal visa
regime which both New Delhi and Dhaka think would be a key step in
minimizing the scope of illegal immigration from Bangladesh to India…
