KARACHI: Speakers from across India and Pakistan urged the South Asian
nations, particularly India and Pakistan, to choose the path of peace
and cooperation Addressing the seminar ‘Promoting Peace in South Asia
and Remembering Didi Nirmala Deshpande’ held on Thursday at the PIIA
Auditorium, they suggested that the South Asian countries commit to a
no-war agreement and declare the region as a nuclear-free zone. The
seminar was organised by Pakistan Peace Coalition and Pakistan
Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER)…

COLOMBO: The fourth SAARC Ministerial Conference on Children and the
4th SAARC Senior Officials’ Conference on Children will be held on
July 9 and 10 at Hilton Hotel, Colombo. The event is significant for
the region and especially for Sri Lanka because it is going to be held
after a period of 13 years and Sri Lanka hosts the event after
defeating terrorism after 30 years, Child development and Women’s

Pakistan's federal government and the authorities of Punjab [ Images ]
province on Saturday filed two petitions in the Supreme Court
challenging the release from house arrest of outlawed Jamaat-ud-Dawah
chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed, wanted by India for the Mumbai terror
attacks [ Images ]. Saeed, also the founder of the banned Lashkar-e-
Tayiba [ Images ] terror group, was freed from detention on the orders
of the Lahore [ Images ] High Court on June 2 after spending nearly
six months in detention…

COLOMBO: India is planning to send a delegation to visit the
Internally Displaced Person (IDP) camps in the North soon, Sri Lanka
government said. The visit would be follow-up on an invitation from
the Sri Lanka government….The main priority of the Indian team is to
visit the IDP camps and look into the welfare and development of the
IDPs.

MALE: An Indian bank has issued $300 million worth of loan facilities
to the Maldivian government, said Ahmed Inaz, deputy minister at the
ministry of economic development…
The Exim bank was launched by the Indian government and is the
country’s leading export finance institution, with its main objective
being to provide economic assistance to foreign governments to finance
imports of goods and services from India…
